Over the last two years, Yarrambat Food Trucks has captured the hearts of the Nillumbik community. The inaugural event in 2016 has strategically influenced the wider golfing community, most achievably opening up green space to young families who were previously intimidated by the prospect of stepping foot upon a golf course. VicHealth’s new Growing
Participation in Sport program echoes the same sentiments of the Yarrambat Food Trucks initiative:
“Food trucks, music and festivals might not be typically
associated with sport and physical activity. Yet these teenfriendly
activities will form part of a major new VicHealth program
shaking up traditional sport to get teenagers active and healthy.”
– 19th July 2018 (Golf Victoria).
This year, we are looking to add an extra layer of purpose to the event. An outdoor cinema company has been engaged to screen movies on the following dates:
• Sunday, 28th of October 2018
• Sunday, 25th of November 2018; and
• Sunday, 23th of December 2018.
All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Belgravia Foundation. Customers can be assured that local funds raised will be spent locally, delivering programming to vulnerable and disadvantaged groups that frequent the Yarrambat Park Golf Course. By purchasing a movie ticket, customers will be contributing to the following outcomes:
i. Free driving range access for customers from St John of God and Aurora Support Services,
ii. Free driving range clinics for students in the Northern Special Schools Sporting Association; and
iii. Free golf cart use for current customers with autism, epilepsy and polymyalgia rheumatica.
